Well, what'd you expect the day after my name-day party :3 Crazy ideas come to me at such times, like that one to start a blog... How did it end again?
Oh, yeah...
Well, at least it was not THAT bad...
Yuppie, anyway, that was Zack, the plushie fox of doom. He's always lurking at the edge of my view and sanity, like the the cute and relentless personal demon he is. A regular party animal he is.
Nevertheless, as today was kinda slow and lazy (capital LAZY, as in the 'stay all day in home, better in bed and play some game' style), there's really not much to write here... There were simply no ends of the world or judgement days today, what a bummer. Not even an earthquake in my neighbourhood (not there's a more than minimal chance of one here at all, not even speaking of an above 3-Richter one), or a gas explosion.
Okay then, let's go with whatever else I was thinking about/doing recently:
notaz released a port his PicoDrive Sega, MegaDrive/Genesis/CD emulator for the PSP. Works flawlessly with any game I tried (though I heard that few CD games don't work) and, with lessening the quality, can be configured to work on lower CPU clockings than 333/166 (CPU/bus). It's better at genesis emulation than Dgen and comes pre-configured to handle saving/loading with the shoulder buttons (can be changed).
It also works perfectly with the Slim & Lite version of PSP - the one I have. Nothing like playing Snatcher or Sonic CD wherever you want :3
jurajstyk released PSP Quake v1.0. It supports hardware rendering as well as software and both kernel and user modes so that it can work on any firmware that can run homebrew applications. Thanks to the HW rendering it runs silky-smooth at 222 mhz. It also supports mp3 music, but for 192 khz tracks to run smooth it needs to be ran at 333 mhz.
For some reason it makes PSP's own ghosting problems appear as more severe - probably it's the refresh mode it uses. Oh, and watch out with VBR (Variable Bit Rate) mp3s - one of them choked my PSP in this game :3
You need either the shareware or full version of the game's ID1 folder to run it.
Zombie Crisis by Geoffrey for PSP and PC announced. A nearly-completed duke-based zombie shooter with faux-psx climatic graphics and some simply awesome advertising slogans :3 I can't wait for it!
Of course, homebrew.
13 November 2007 Firefox3 Status Meeting. You can view Firefox3's status and updates here. I simply love Firefox, so I'm eagerly awaiting the third instalment. It's gonna rock SO hard!
Beta 1 is going to be released very soon, they're just wrapping things up. Still, I'm gettign worried if they'll be able to release the final version this year, like they promised... There have been some serious delays due to new bugs.
Songbird 0.4 Pre-release 18.11.2007. Another nightly build of this promising desktop player and a web browser in one, a fine creation of Mozilla. As nightly builds, as the name suggests, are released each night, you'll probably see a newer version once you click the link.
Main page and official stable 0.3.1 version download.
In other news... :3
My new Linksys router is working fine as of now. I can't believe that my mum worked so long on that crappy D-link 802.11b abomination of an electronic appliance that was frequently losing signal at more than 5 friggin' metres...
Anyway, this is the one (WRT54GL) and it rocks - had no problems with it, plus it even lets you add devices with a push of a button. Simply cool :3
Duke Nukem STILL wasn't released :3 Yeah, I'm one of those Duke-addicts that still wait for it. And I WILL be waiting for it to the point that I'd even strike a deal with Satan to play it two days after the end of the world XD
For now I can at least play Duke Nukem 3D with the High Resolution Pack and mods...
Visit the Duke Nukem 3d: High Resolution Pack site for the last full release and, optionally, the 3DRealms forum's Duke Nuke 3D Modifications board for update packs and mods.
Duke Plus by DeeperThought released. An awesome game enhancer and mapping utility for Eduke32, HRP and non-HRP. Introduces weather effects, bots, customizable monster system, ladders, jump pads and numerous gameplay enhancements and bugfixes. Grab it now and be amazed how fresh can the ol' Duke be :3
Zero Punctuation Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass Review. Another awesome video review by Yahtzee Croshaw. Watch to laugh like you never laughed before. Don't watch if you are a fanboy of this game :P
A little warning though - good hearing required to understand it all.
That's it for now... Before I'll fall asleep with my face on the keyboard and wake up with few of the keys embedded in my cranium. I'll be back, so don't be so happy :3 I still have to work out what the hell I want this to be.
